Born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1953, John C. Calame received his B.S. Degree in Accounting 1975 from the University of Alabama. Mr. Calame received his Juris Doctor from the University of Alabama School of Law in 1978and his Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University in 1979. He joined the firm in 1978. He is active in numerous professional organizations including the Dallas County Bar Association, the Alabama State Bar, serving as an Examiner in Taxation for the Alabama Bar Exam from 1989 to 1992, and the American Bar Association. Mr. Calame has been actively involved in various community organizations in Selma. He has served as President and Board Member of the Selma/Dallas County YMCA, President and Board Member of the Selma Kiwanis Club, Chapter Chairman of the Dallas County Red Cross, Board Member of the Selma-Dallas County Chamber of Commerce. and Member of the Selma Downtown Redevelopment Authority. He is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Selma, where he has served on the Vestry and has served as Treasurer and Senior Warden. Mr. Calame has experience in various areas of law. His areas of practice are concentrated in business law; business entity formation and transactions; wills, trusts and estate planning; taxation of individuals, estates and trusts; probate and estate administration; and real estate, including residential, commercial, and 1031 like-kind exchanges. Mr. Calame is married to Janet Moss Calame and has two children and two grandchildren.
